Usage Areas

• MegaIzo PU Mastik HM is used for preventing leakage in the expansion and dilatation joints on floors, particularly in such spaces that are characterized by pedestrian and vehicle traffic (eg. parking garages and pavements/ side walks), for the filling of the joints of such structures as bridge piers, dams, tunnels and concrete roads, in the cracks and gaps of reinforced concrete water reservoirs, seams of irrigation canals, roofs, rainwater gutters and the joints and seams of rainwater drainage pipes and antenna and chimney flashings. The product is also used for the filling of construction joints in warehouses and production spaces and such industrial floors, where such industrial operations as food and pharmaceutical production are carried out. The product adheres to such surfaces as ceramic tile, concrete, plaster, rock, marble, wooden, aluminum, metal plate, brick and enameled surfaces. It is also used for the assemblage of aluminum, wooden and PVC joinery. The product is also fit for use for filling and sealing the gaps amongst the blocks and details, which emerge in buildings for structural or decorative purposes, in balconies and terraces and wall flooring joint spots. It is suitable for use on indoors and outdoors horizontal and vertical surfaces.

    Surface Preparation :
    Application surfaces should be sound, clean, dust free, and free from molding oils and other foreign substances. Such layers that would reduce adherence as oil, grease, dirt, paint, cement foam and rust should be thoroughly cleaned prior to application.
    Megaİzo PU Mastik HM adheres excellent to many surface types even without the need for primer application. However; in the cases, where the surface cannot be cleaned from dust completely or is likely to be exposed to high mechanical impact, joint butts should be applied MegaFilm İzo PU or MegaFilm İzo Epo, the surface preparation primer.

    Application Methods :
    • Sausage formed Megaİzo PU Mastik HM should be placed into a gun with a suitable headpiece, and the gun should be directed through a 45o angle.
    • Megaİzo PU Mastik LM should be applied continuously at a slow rate, making sure the product fully contacts the joint butts and any air void is not allowed.
    • Megaİzo PU Mastik LM should, once the surface is filled, be smoothed by applying slight pressure toward the edges of the joints, making sure any overflowing is prevented, and should so be ensured to adhere to the edges.

    Application Recommendations :
    • Especially in the case of deep joints, the product should be applied with porous backing rod in order to control the thickness and prevent trilateral bonding.
    • In the cases, where sharp edge lines or very clear joint edges are desired on the surfaces, on which Megaİzo PU Mastik LM is to be applied; masking tape should be used. The masking tape should be removed before the mastic is cured.
    • In the cases where paint application is intended on Megaİzo PU Mastik HM, a compatibility test is recommended to be conducted in advance.
    • Megaİzo PU Mastik HM should be consumed rapidly after the opening of the package as the curing of the product begins upon contact with air.
    • The product should not be applied to such surfaces, which are exposed to risk of freezing within the next 24 hours, which are frozen or the frost of which is thawing.
    • The product should not be applied in rainy weather conditions, and the application surface should be preserved from rain for a period of 24 hours.

    Surface and Ambient Temperature
    The surface and ambient temperature should be between +5°C and +35°C whilst at application.
