Application Procedure
- Application Surfaces
Interior Floors;
Cement based screed
ConcreteInterior Walls;
Cement based screed
ConcreteSurface Preparation :
• The surface should be dry, clean, firm and dust free; grease, dirt and any materials that could prevent adhesion should be removed from the surface; materials such as mortar or cement residues should be scraped off,
• Before application of the primer on the surface, an open porous structure should be formed in the upper layer of the application surface by using surface abrasive equipment (such as Shot Blast, Rototiger etc.). The resulting dust should be cleaned with an industrial vacuum cleaner.
• The pressure strength of the abraded concrete surface should be minimum 25 N/mm2 and the tensile strength should be minimum 1.5 N/mm2.
• Before application, make sure that the surface moisture, relative humidity and dew point requirements are met. Otherwise, the desired criteria cannot be achieved as a result of the carbonation reaction that will take place on the surface.
• Moisture content of the surface should be maximum 4%.
• In case the surface humidity is higher than 4%, please call our technical support line for information.
• Relative humidity should be maximum 80%.
• In order to prevent condensation before and after the application, the dew point should be above +3oC.
• New concrete constructions should be left to dry a minimum of 28 days.
• In the surfaces landed on soil, waterproofing application must be done in accordance with the related local Waterproofing Regulations.
• Surface defects with more than 1 cm in depth should be repaired 6-8 hours in advance with MegaTamir Epo T501 and/or with MegaTamir EpoGrout T502.Application Methods :
• The prepared mixture MegaFilm A502 should be poured onto the surface and applied by a roller or trowel until a seamless layer is formed.
• It should be considered that the pot life and workable period of epoxy based products may decrease and increase depending on the ambient humidity and temperature.
• The second layer of MegaFilm A502 should be applied according to the porosity of the surface.
• If MegaZemin Z501 application shall be done after the primer application, it can be blunted with quartz or silica sand in dimensions of 0.5 – 0.7 mm.Application Suggestions :
• All materials that will be used in order to reduce the negative effects of thermal differentiation should be brought to the application area 24 hours in advance.
• Before proceeding to the final coat application, it should be ensured that the primer application is suitable for the pedestrian traffic.
• Ambient temperature and humidity should be kept under control during opening for pedestrian traffic.
• Mixing should not absolutely be done manually.
• Smoothness must be ensured to prevent water accumulation on the application surface.
• The product should be used within the pot life after mixing. Do not use products, of which the pot life has expired during application.
• Do not apply on unstable surfaces. Stability and carrying capacity of old surfaces must be checked before application.
• Protect the application surface before, during and after application against air streams; also it should be protected against water contact and condensation for 24 hours.
• Do not apply on surfaces where risk of frost hazard within the next 24 hours exists, on already frozen surfaces or those that are about to melt.
• Care should be taken to ensure, that the product is not exposed to direct sunlight during hot weathers.
• Do not apply on extremely windy and hot surfaces that are exposed to direct sunlight. If there is a necessity for application in these environments, the environment as well as the surface should be made ready for application before starting.
• For different surface applications please contact our Technical Support Hotline. (TEL: 444 4 595)Surface and Ambient Temperature
The surface and ambient temperature should be between +10°C and +30°C. When necessary, the ambient should be heated with electric heaters. It is not recommended to use heaters with combustion system as it may contaminate the surface.
